aHi my name is Caroline Appleyard and I am a self taught full time artist who lives in Chesterfield. I enjoy outdoor pursuits and spend lots of time scuba diving, & love lying on the sea bed painting the underwater life - see my paintings in the underwater world section.

sMy paintings are in acrylics and are naive, vibrant, happy and a bit mad! I love using bright colours and also enjoy painting Coastal scenes and Scotland. The animals in my paintings all have faces and interact with each other in their own small stories, which add up to make the whole picture. The people don't have any features, as we rush around in our busy lives we don't notice the faces of the passer-by. We may see them numerous times and still not notice them. Neither do we notice the tiny creatures but they are just as important as we are, so I paint there features.

sI always paint a snail into every picture, named Brian after my dad, a big Magic Roundabout fan.
