APPLEYARD ART - Paintings of Sheffield, Derbyshire, Scotland and Underwater themes

In April & May I painted underwater on Skye for three weeks, mostly fishy paintings, then spent four weeks in June painting the wrecks of Scapa Flow. This year I painted a bit deeper than last year, on the Karlsruhe & the Dresden, as well as the gun of the Seydlitz.

It was great to paint at Scapa Flow again, it’s my favourite place. On the gun of the Seydlitz I had a big lobster come & sit under my board for ten minutes, which was pretty funny. Then when I painted underneath the Dresden bow, I had a wolf fish lying next to me. I was going to paint the Dresden anchor on the next dive, but decided to paint the wolf fish instead. Then I went down with Emily, the skipper of the Radiant Queen, and we ended up with two wolf fish, which was even better.

We had 9 days on the Radiant Queen & loads of dives on the barriers. It was even better than last year.
